Holcim Philippines, a leading provider of building solutions, has named Nicolas George as its new president and CEO, effective August 1, 2024.
George successfully led Holcim’s Algeria operations and oversaw significant growth in the mortar and aggregates businesses, as well as driving industrial performance improvements and initiating a decarbonization roadmap.
“The Philippines is an important market for Holcim and I am thrilled to work with our people, customers, and other partners to further raise results and deliver great value to all stakeholders,” he said.
Goerge’s career at Holcim began in 2007 as a strategy manager in China, and he has since held CEO positions in Myanmar and Uganda. His educational background includes a degree in Industry Management, Innovation, and Performance from the Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon.
George succeeds Horia Adrian, who will assume the role of head of decarbonization for the Holcim Group in the Asia, Middle East, and Africa region.
During Adrian’s tenure as CEO of Holcim Philippines, the company achieved significant milestones in decarbonization and circularity, including increased use of alternative fuels and raw materials, improved operational efficiency, and an expanded portfolio of low-carbon cement.
Adrian also forged strong relationships with government and industry stakeholders to support the Philippines’ transition to sustainable construction.
Adrian’s 24-year career at Holcim has included management roles as CEO of Romania, Azerbaijan, and Russia, as well as Area Manager of Eastern Europe & CIS and the Middle East.
He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.
