Carlos Edriel Yulo has etched his name in Philippine sports history with a golden performance at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, August 3, clinching the country’s first-ever gymnastics gold medal.
More than bringing the country’s second Olympic gold medal, Yulo’s success also served as his redemption from the painful 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he was eliminated before the finals.
After his historic win, Yulo is expected to receive numerous pledges for bringing pride to the Philippines, including millions in cash incentives from both the government and private companies, in addition to various other rewards. So far, here are some of the incentives and rewards that Caloy will receive for winning gold in the Olympics, as of this writing.
Aside from his gold medal, the Philippine Sports Commission is also set to honor Yulo with the Olympic Gold Medal of Valor.
The 4-foot-11 Yulo is entitled to a substantial cash prize of P10 million under Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act. This, along with other government-mandated benefits, serves as a token of the nation’s gratitude for Yulo’s exceptional achievement.
On Friday, the House of Representatives announced that it will also grant the Olympic gold medalist P3 million in recognition of his historic achievement, according to Zaldy Co, chair of the House appropriations panel and AKO Bicol representative.
Yulo has also been promised a fully furnished two-bedroom condominium unit in McKinley Hills from property developer Megaworld, valued at P24 million. The Philippine Olympic Committee will also be giving the 24-year-old Olympian a house and lot.
Buffet restaurant Vikings also pledged a lifetime free buffet for Caloy, while Kuhmeal offered free baked mac for life. Tipsy Pig shared that he will be entitled to free food and drinks at any branch.
Meanwhile, automotive parts store Orion said that it would give Yulo a free set of headlights and fog lights for his vehicle. Eyewear store Peculiar is set to provide Caloy’s OOTD eyewear.
Comedian Vice Ganda extended his congratulatory message to Yulo, offering free entrance to his Vice Comedy Club with free nachos and bottomless iced tea.
