JAPAN would be willing to share its expertise with the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) to improve its services through digitalization, said a visiting Japanese official.
Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuge Yoshifumi, a former postmaster at Nagoya Moritaka Post Office, has met with PHLPost Chairman Stephen Cruz and Postmaster General/CEO Luis Carlos to discuss how Japan could help the Philippines in its postal modernization initiatives.
The two-day visit of the Japanese official was facilitated by the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Japan Post.
During a tour of a PHLPost facility in Pasay City on Tuesday, Tsuge expressed confidence that digitalization would lead to further development of postal services in the country.
He observed postal operations at the central mail exchange center in Pasay City.
Tsuge added that digitalization would optimize mail delivery and meet the growing demands of e-commerce.
Japan’s postal service infrastructure is among the best in the world.
Japan Post is the only postal agency in Asia that posted level 10 in the Integrated Index for Postal Development 2022 of the Universal Postal Union.
Japan Post Co. Ltd., a member of the Japan Post Group, has approximately 24,000 post offices nationwide under its umbrella.
