Katrina Ponce Enrile, the administrator and chief operating officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority, on Thursday lashed out at Vice President Sara Duterte, saying the administration of former President Rodrigo R. Duterte should have solved the flooding in Davao City.

In the maiden episode of the “Leslie Bocobo Live” aired over Radyo ng Pilipinas on Thursday, Enrile said the Vice President’s father was at the helm of the administration for six years and was Davao mayor before he become President, and he should have remedied the perennial flooding in Davao City.

“Anim na taon silang naka-upo. Bakit hindi nila binigyan ng tuon noong panahon nila. Anim na taon silang naka-upo e kung mag-complain sila. Huwag nating isisi iyan sa isang president,” she said.

“Huwag naman lahat ng problem ng bayan ay ipupukol nila kay Presidente Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. Dapat patas lang ang banat nila,” Enrile added.

Earlier, the Vice President decried the Marcos administration’s alleged refusal to fund the Davao City flood control program because “the city’s mayor is a Duterte.”

The Vice President claimed that a master plan and a feasibility study for the city’s flood control and drainage have been finalized. However, this feasibility study was only finally published in July 2023.

Lawmakers have said the Vice President’s brother,
Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, should have used the P51-billion allocation for infrastructure projects during the last three years of the Duterte administration.

The Vice President was criticized for going to Germany for a vacation as Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon flooded various parts of the country on July 24.

In June, when Davao City was flooded, Mayor Sebastian Duterte and former president Rodrigo Duterte were in Tacloban City for an engagement.
