“Their leadership, experience and commitment to serve our people greatly enhance our collective efforts to support the Agenda for Prosperity of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his vision for ‘Bagong Pilipinas,'” he added.
Lakas-CMD is the biggest political party in the House of Representatives with backings from Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
Lacuna served as city councilor and vice mayor before being elected as Manila’s first female mayor in 2022.
“In a show of solidarity and support, Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo and 20 members of the City Council accompanied Lacuna to the oath-taking rites,” a statement from the mayor’s office read.
Manila Representatives Irwin Tieng (5th District), Joel Chua (3rd District), Edward Maceda (4th District), Rolando Valeriano (2nd District) and Bienvenido Abante Jr. (6th District) also attended the ceremony.
Quimbo served as representative of the second district of Marikina from 2010 to 2019, eventually becoming one of the House’s deputy speakers from 2016 to 2018.
His wife, Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo, accompanied him during the oath taking.
Key officials of the party, including House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, Deputy Speaker and Quezon 2nd District Rep. David Suarez, and Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Jose Aquino were in attendance.
