(UPDATES) MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo said on Tuesday that they would run for reelection in the 2025 polls.

Lacuna, during the monthly media forum of the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association at the Harbor View Restaurant in Ermita, said she was confident that there would be no change in the city’s leadership after the 2025 midterm elections.

The mayor added that she and Servo have done many positive things for Manila during their term.

“We made the delivery of SAP (government’s special assistance program) more efficient by tapping the assistance of village heads instead of disbursing it through electronic wallets because we saw that this process was not effective. In fact, we still have funds that were still in electronic wallets so they (village heads) have been entrusted with the distribution. They will disburse the funds themselves. For five to seven days, they would have the funds to distribute directly among their constituents more efficiently,” she said.

Lacuna added her administration has embarked on infrastructure projects that realistically commensurate to the number of people that would benefit from it, including the animal shelter and clinic near Vitas Slaughterhouse, as well as three six-story school buildings in Tondo, Districts 5 and 6.

The school buildings, built for Isabelo Reyes Elementary School and Jacinto Elementary School, were expected to be finished by early 2025.

Servo, on the other hand, said that under his watch, records of 9,000 ordinances for the past 77 years were digitalized for easy access.

He said he was proud to be Lacuna’s running mate anew, adding the mayor continues to inspire with her kind of leadership.
