Two more senior administration government officials have joined and been sworn in by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez in the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party, bringing to 103 the total number of party members in the House of Representatives.

The latest to join were Rep. Eric Go Yap of the lone district of Benguet and the province’s Governor, Melchor Diclas, who both pledged support to the country’s dominant political party headed by the Speaker.

Numerous local officials have also undertaken their oath before Romualdez, including Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, Reps. Joel Chua of Manila’s third district, Ed Christopher Go of Isabela’s second district, and former Marikina congressman Miro Quimbo. Soledad Go, wife of incumbent Baguio City Rep. Mark Go, also joined Lakas-CMD.

The Speaker, an administration stalwart who heads the 310-strong House of Representatives, said Lakas-CMD’s expanded membership means wider support in Congress for the administration of President Marcos Jr.

“Their leadership, experience, and commitment to serve our people greatly enhance our collective efforts to support the Agenda for Prosperity of President Marcos, Jr. and his vision for Bagong Pilipinas,” Romualdez said.

The Speaker said he was happy to welcome his new party members: “They share our principles and our aspirations for a better life for our people and a more progressive Philippines.”
