A CIRCULATING list of 12 candidates for senator under the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas has been dismissed by a House leader as “not official” and “speculative.”
On the list, released by Sen. Imee Marcos, are reelectionist senators Francis Tolentino, Bong Revilla, Lito Lapid, Pia Cayetano, and Marcos, returning senators Manny Pacquiao, Vicente Sotto 3rd, and Panfilo Lacson, and newcomers Benhur Abalos, Erwin Tulfo, Abby Binay, and Camille Villar.
In a statement, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats Executive Vice President and House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe said he “noted with interest” the reports regarding the alliance’s supposed senatorial slate, and quoted Partido Federal ng Pilipinas President and South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. who said the administration has not finalized its lineup.
Making up the coalition are President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Lakas, Nacionalista Party, Nationalist People’s Coalition and National Unity Party.
Dalipe said the list surfaced after a meeting where political parties supporting the administration were asked to submit their senatorial nominees by September 15.
“However, it is important to emphasize that any list circulating at this point is not official and should be regarded as speculative,” he said.
