MANILA, Philippines — An early morning 6.8-magnitude earthquake on Saturday struck Surigao del Sur, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, the quake, which is tectonic in origin, is located east of Lingig, Surigao del Sur and hit the area at 6:22 a.m.
Lingig, Hinatuan, and City of Bislig in Surigao del Sur were all reported to have felt Intensity V.
The Phivolcs report also cited that the quake was felt in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro Cities, both recorded under Intensity II (under instrumental intensities).
While no damage was reported from the quake, aftershocks were felt, including one at magnitude 5 with an epicenter near Cateel, Davao Oriental.
