A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for two weeks was found dead on a sugarcane farm in Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.
According to a “Saksi” report by Aileen Pedreso, victim “Pearl Joy” was found on Wednesday and had been positively identified by her mother through the clothes she wore.
Her mother shared that Pearl Joy had been in school and was messaging her cousin to accompany her before her disappearance.
“Nang nandoon na sa paaralan, nagchat daw siya na sabi niya, ‘samahan mo naman ako mamayang tanghali kasi magkaka-motor na ko mamaya.’ Ang kaniyang pinsan, di sumama sa kanya,” said the victim’s mother, Jennifer Galve.
(When she got to the school, she sent a chat saying, ‘please come with me this afternoon because I will be getting a motorcycle later.’ Her cousin did not come with her)
Witnesses said that the victim was seen at a crossing at Barangay Sum-ag.
Her mother believed she was messaging and waiting for someone on the day of her disappearance.
The La Carlota Police is still unable to identify where the victim was killed and said that her body may have only been dumped at the area where she was found.
They are now working together with the Bacolod Police to recover CCTV footage and track the victim’s mobile phone for possible leads.
“Walang may na-recover. We are hoping na may makita kaming ebidensya. Parang iniwan lang siya dito,” said acting La Carlota police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Lymel John Pasquin.
(We didn’t recover anything. We are hoping that we will find evidence. It seems like she was just left here)
The victim’s body is also currently undergoing autopsy.
Meanwhile, her family continues to call for justice.
“Nakakaawa talaga ang anak ko na ginanun mo. Bakit mo pinatay? Bakit, ano ang purpose mo?… Anak, kung nasaan ka man ngayon, sana makita ang taong gumawa nito sayo,” said Galve.
(What you did to my daughter was pitiful. Why did you kill her? Why, what is your purpose… Wherever you are, I hope we find the person who did this to you) —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
