NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives have arrested five foreigners and 24 Filipinos during an operation against a scam hub in Cavite on Friday.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the raid was launched after the agency received tips that a number of houses at Grand Centennial Homes Subdivision in Kawit were being used for fraudulent activities including investment, crypto and impersonation scams, supervised by foreigners.

Three of the foreigners arrested were identified as Chinese and two were Malaysians.

Recovered during the raid were pre-registered SIM cards, online wallet accounts, computers, scam message scripts, mobile phones, text blast machines and an estimated P100,000 in cash.

The perpetrators were facing charges of violating Republic Act (RA) 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and RA 12010, or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act.
