The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) joined the local government unit of Quezon City in commemorating the 80th death anniversary of former president Manuel L. Quezon on August 1.
A mass was held at the grave of the former president and the “Father of the National Language” in the NHCP Museo ni Manuel Quezon at the Quezon Memorial Circle, followed by a blessing led by Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in Paltok, Quezon Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Rey Hector A. Paglinawan.
The celebration was graced by NHCP Executive Director Carmina R. Arevalo, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) Chairman Arthur P. Casanova, and KWF Commissioners Benjamin M. Mendillo Jr. and Carmelita C. Abdurahman.
President Bongbong Marcos gave his message of solidarity through a video while Mayor Joy Belmonte delivered hers through a representative.
Apart from this, the NHCP also celebrated the 126th anniversary of the Bacoor Assembly alongside the local government unit of Bacoor in front of the Cuenca Ancestral House in Bacoor, Cavite.
