A Philippine National Police (PNP) official on Sunday said there is no indication that suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo has left the Philippines.

“Base sa report ng (Bureau of Immigration), wala pang indikasyon na nakalabas na ng bansa si suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo at ang iba pa niyang kasamahan na pinaghahanap.” said PNP Spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo on Sunday during an interview on Super Radyo DzBB.

(Based on a report from the Bureau of Immigration, there is no indication Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and her companions who are being sought have left the country.)

Guo is facing an arrest order from the Senate after she repeatedly failed to attend its hearing on the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in her town.

The arrest order was also filed against the mayor’s siblings Sheila Leal Guo, Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen Guo, and her suspected mother Wen Yi Lin.

Also included in the arrest order are former Technology and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC) deputy director general Dennis Cunanan and Nancy Gamo, Alice Guo’s supposed accountant.

The Senate on Monday ordered Gamo’s release from detention.

The Department of Justice earlier said it believes the embattled mayor is still in the country as it has information on the mayor’s whereabouts.

“Tuloy-tuloy ang pagbibigay natin ng police assistance sa Office of the Sergeant at Arms ng Senate na siya po nautusan na mag implement ng warrant of arrest . Tuloy-tuloy ang aming koordinasyon,” Fajardo said.

(We continuously assist the Office of the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate, who are tasked to implement the warrant of arrest. We are coordinating with them.)

Fajardo also warned that those who are helping Guo and her companions hide from authorities will face charges.

“Kung may sapat na ebidensiya, at napatunayang may nagkanlong kay Mayor Guo at sa iba pang hinahanap, pwede tayong magsampa ng kaso,” Fajardo said.

(If we have sufficient evidence and it is proven that they are hiding Mayor Guo and seven others, we can file charges against them.) —RF, GMA Integrated News
