When I became a wife and mother, I had dreamy ideas about the kind of meals that I was going to serve my little family. Dreamy because in my teenage years, the only dish I’d perfected was Lucky Me! Beef noodles with onsen tamago.
But when I became a mom at 22, I had to learn to cook. I clipped recipes from newspapers and food magazines. I sat through hilarious but helpful and comforting YouTube videos. Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten) was my best friend.
I subjected my willing victims (friends and family) to meals that were bland, but sometimes ridiculously tasty. With practice, I got better and more consistent.
My grownup son still looks forward to my pork sinigang during weekends, while my friends keep asking me for the recipe of my Lumpiang ShangLai.
I guess that amazement was partly due to the fact that nobody cooks — from scratch — anymore.
Most people would rather order online or grab meals that are ready to heat and eat right away.
Mealtime is family time
Finding time to cook a homemade dinner during busy weeknights can be difficult, especially when you’re already exhausted. But it’s possible to have quality mealtime even when life gets busy with meal planning and a little help from Delicato.
Singaporean gourmet sausage brand Delicato has officially made its way to the Philippines, marking its grand launch with an exclusive and intimate brunch held at Jones All Day in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City. The event showcased the versatile flavors and high quality of Delicato sausages to help homemakers plan their next family meal.
“When we were thinking of the flavors we wanted to launch in the Philippines, we decided to look for the ones that are very versatile,” shares Grace Cukingnan-Chua, CEO of Own Brands and Food Solutions at FairPrice Group. “Eating is such an important part of Filipino culture.”
Having grown up in the Philippines, Chua knows how big of a role mealtime can play in showing love and appreciation for the family.
“No matter how simple the meal is, if it’s cooked with love, it’s going to be Deli-sh,” she adds. “Through this launch, we are excited to extend our reach to more of our kababayans.”
Delicato is bringing five of its popular flavors to the Philippines: Truffle Cheese Pork Sausage, a luxurious blend of truffle and cheese; Cheddar Bratwurst Pork Sausage, a rich and creamy sausage infused with cheddar cheese; Hot & Spicy Pork Sausage, which combines spice with a flavorful kick; Smoked Bratwurst Pork Sausage with a deep smoky flavor that evokes traditional sausage-making techniques; and the Mixed Herbs & Spices Pork Sausage.
During the launch, chef Kalel Chan showcased the versatility of Delicato by creating several dishes using the different flavors of the sausage brand.
This included a generous charcuterie board loaded with sliced Delicato sausages, cheddar, cheese, fruits, and pastries from Jones All Day. Chef Kalel also prepared sausage frittata and a yummy take on Croque Madame, using scrambled egg atop a freshly baked croissant with salad and Potato Hash on the side.
With Delicato, the possibilities are endless. You can enjoy the sausages as is or throw it in your fave pasta dish.
A taste of Singapore
Delicato was debuted by FairPrice Group (FPG), Singapore’s largest grocery retailer, in 2021, through FPG’s Own Brands business.
Starting out as a delicatessen counter in FairPrice Finest, Delicato fine-quality delicatessen offerings quickly gained popularity with customers for both its variety of flavors and meaty texture. The brand has since grown to encompass many retail packed gourmet products, anchored by its range of sausages.
Curated by a team of meat specialists, the sausages are made with premium-quality meat, resulting in a firmer bite that retains its natural juice. Delicato aims to elevate Filipinos’ dining experiences by adding a gourmet touch to their meals.
Since its launch in Singapore in 2021, Delicato has received industry-wide recognition at the prestigious FMCG Asia Awards 2022, winning the Product Launch of the Year and Design in Singapore awards.
As Delicato establishes its presence in the Philippine market, it promises to bring a slice of Singaporean culinary excellence to local kitchens and dining tables.
