The GMA Kapuso Foundation has collected a total of 1,792 blood bags during its donation drive at the Ever Gotesco Mall in Quezon City this weekend.
As seen on “24 Oras,” Monday, motorist group NCP and volunteer group Community Search and Rescue Forces of the Philippines were among the donors. The latter came all the way from Quezon Province and Cavite.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Romeo Brawner and other military officials also donated blood.
“Sa 28 years po nating magkasama ay nakapagkolekta na po tayo almost 70,000 bags of blood at nasa more than 209,000 patients na ang ating natulungan,” said Philippine Red Cross secretary general Dr Gwen Pang.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation holds the donation drive every year in August, which is also the birth month of its special adviser Mel Tiangco.
“Kayong lahat ay aking pinapasalamatan dahil nararamdaman ko sa puso ko ang pagmamahalan nating lahat pagka-andito ako sa bloodletting sa Ever Commonwealth. Love is alive right now in our midst,” she said at the event.
