MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics police officers confiscated methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P1.47 million in two anti-drug operations in Caloocan City on Friday.
Two suspected members of a drug ring were arrested in a sting operation along Tabon Road in Barangay 185 that yielded 200 grams of shabu valued at P1.36 million, Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said.
Matta said Blanca Aurora Veronillo, 38, and a 17-year-old male were apprehended at around 3 p.m. after they met with police officers posing as buyers.
Drug trafficking charges were filed against the suspects.
Meanwhile, a man was apprehended after he was reportedly caught with 16.7 grams of shabu with a street value of P113,560 in Barangay 175.
The suspect, whom Northern Police District director Brig. Gen. Rizalito Gapas identified only as 45-year-old Buboy, was initially accosted by police for smoking in a public place.
Instead of stopping, the suspect resisted and ran away. Policemen captured him after a brief chase. A plastic sachet containing shabu was found in his possession
