A fisherman went missing after their boat collided with an unidentified vessel in the vicinity waters off Burias Island, Masbate, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday.
In a statement, the PCG identified the missing person as 23-year-old Roldan Marientes.
“The Coast Guard Sub-Station San Pascual in Masbate continues search and rescue operations and coordinates with neighboring barangays, including local fisherfolk, for possible sightings of the missing fisherman,” it said.
According to the PCG, Roldan and his 37-year-old brother Roland were asleep when the unidentified vessel collided with their boat MBCA Dandan around 2 a.m. on August 10.
Roland was sighted and rescued around 11 a.m. by MV Virgen De Penafancia XII of Starhorse Shipping Lines Inc. while it was passing Burias Island going to Masbate City Port.
But, Roldan remains missing.
