THE Philippines is expected to import more pork and beef in 2025 due to “strong economic growth, moderating inflation and forecast population increases,” the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in its Foreign Agricultural Service report.
The report mentioned that the Philippines’ projected pork imports may add up to 510,000 metric tons (MT) from 480,000; and beef to 226,000 MT from 220,000, or an increase of 6 percent and 3 percent, respectively.
