The Philippines and the United States have reached a deal to allow “a limited number” of Afghans to transit through the Philippines to complete processing for special immigrants visas and resettlement to the US, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.
“The agreement is currently undergoing the final domestic procedures required for effectivity,” the DFA said in a statement.
The US government will support the necessary services for the Afghans temporarily staying in the Philippines, it added. These include food, housing, security, medical and transportation to complete visa processing. —Micaela del Callar/KBK, GMA Integrated News
