MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police on Wednesday honored the PNP officer who was killed by a 16-year-old boy in Mandaue City, Cebu last week.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil condoled with the family of S/Sgt. Orvin Seth Felicio when he visited the wake at the Sacred Heart Chapel in Cebu City.

Marbil conferred on Felicio the Medalya ng Kadakilaan or the PNP Heroism Medal, an award which acknowledges policemen’s actions that go beyond the call of duty.

Felicio was shot multiple times by the teenager whom he accosted over a curfew violation.

The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation.

“Felicio’s bravery and dedication to duty epitomize the selflessness and heroism that define the men and women of the PNP,” Marbil said in a statement.

Marbil also handed over financial assistance to Felicio’s family.

Felicio’s death serves as a reminder of the risks police officers face in their commitment to ensuring public safety and order, according to Marbil.

He said the valor displayed by Felicio and other fallen police officers should inspire their colleagues to strive for excellence, resilience and vigilance in fulfilling their duties.
