The Philippine National Police on Sunday said it is hoping for a “positive development” that will pave the way for the return of dismissed mayor Alice Guo to the country to face the allegations against her.
In an interview with Tuesday Niu on Super Radyo DZBB, PNP Spokesperson Police Col. Jean Fajardo said efforts to find the dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac and several persons of interest continue, with the PNP coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and their foreign counterparts.
“Hopefully, katulad sa kaso nina Cassandra Li Ong, at Shiela Guo, magkaroon din ng positive development at maiuwi natin si Alice Guo, pabalik ng bansa,” the police official said.
(Hopefully, similar to what happened to Cassandra Li ong and Shiela Guo, there would be a positive development and we can bring back Alice Guo to the country.)
Both women are in the custody of the NBI after they were arrested in Indonesia and flown back to the Philippines last week. They will face a Senate hearing on Tuesday.
Indonesian authorities detained the dismissed mayor’s sister and Ong, the authorized representative of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) that was raided in Porac, Pampanga for alleged illegal activities. Alice Guo is facing charges in connection with a raided POGO hub in Bamban.
Fajardo said the PNP is prepared to provide “all necessary police assistance” if they are requested by the NBI. The police are deferring to the NBI regarding the case.
Authorities said the dismissed mayor and her fellow fugitives could be headed to the Golden Triangle in attempts to evade the law. —RF, GMA Integrated News
