The Philippine National Police (PNP) has relieved 15 of its personnel over their failure to arrest Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy and five others in relation to the non-bailable offenses of child abuse and qualified trafficking.

“As a result of the investigation, we have administratively relieved 15 PNP personnel including 3 police commissioned officers and 12 police non-commissioned officers,” PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil on Monday told the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs.

“Let me clarify these officers were relieved not for their abuses but for their failure to arrest the fugitives of the law Quiboloy and his co-accused,” he added.

The police chief said he immediately ordered the PNP Internal Affairs Service to hold a probe to determine whether police demonstrated “excessive force” during an operation at Quiboloy’s Davao compound in June.

“Let me be clear: this police operation was carried out with strict adherence to the PNP operational procedures. Our guiding principle was to uphold human rights while executing our duties with the highest standards of professionalism and respect of the law,” Marbil said.

Meanwhile, Quiboloy’s legal counsel on Sunday said the KOJC is offering P20 million to anyone who could provide information on who donated the P10-million bounty against the fugitive televangelist.
