MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police is prepared to answer the writ of amparo petition filed by the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) against PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos.?

Col. Jean Fajardo, PNP public information chief, confirmed yesterday that KOJC filed a petition to prevent a raid on their compound in relation to the ongoing implementation of warrants of arrest against pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused.

“It is their right to seek legal redress through proper channels and the PNP is ready to address this in the appropriate venue,” Fajardo said, adding that the petition was filed before the Office of the Ombudsman. “The PNP will answer these cases in the venues where they were filed, and we will leave it to the courts to decide on the matter.”

Asked if the petition would hinder PNP operations, Fajardo said the warrant of arrest remains effective unless the courts issue a restraining order.

“Warrants of arrest, particularly alias warrants, have a lifetime effectivity unless they are served or quashed. This means they can still be implemented, unless a restraining order is issued by the court,” she explained.

Fajardo emphasized that the writ of amparo petition has not yet impacted the PNP’s ongoing operations against Quiboloy and his co-accused.

“As of now, the petition is still pending and the court will hear it in due time. The PNP and other named defendants will be given the opportunity to respond,” she said.
