(UPDATES) SEN. Grace Poe has asked concerned agencies to make the country’s e-travel system “hassle-free” amid complaints from passengers that it is not user-friendly.

Poe said “for all its good intentions, the e-travel system for passengers arriving in and departing from the Philippines could use some improvement to avoid causing inconvenience.”

“Complaints have been raised about how many passengers were stressed out by this tedious and time consuming requirement,” she said on Wednesday in a statement.

She said both the “internet-savvy and the technologically challenged have complained about accessing the [travel] app (application) and the too many details to be filled out to complete the process.”

“To exacerbate the nightmare, there are issues of availability of the internet for those who need to do it in the airports, and the intermittent connection,” Poe said.

She urged the Bureau of Immigration to coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications Technology “to make this digital data collection platform more efficient and hassle-free.”

“Let’s have an e-travel system that’s secure, user-friendly and one that allows legitimate visitors to enter and leave the country in a breeze,” Poe said.

The system is a digital single data collection platform for passengers arriving in and departing from the Philippines, which should be used for border control, health surveillance, and economic data analysis.
