MANILA, Philippines — The crime volume in Quezon City decreased last month by nearly 13 percent, police reported yesterday.

Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the QCPD recorded 137 crimes in July.

The figure is lower compared to 157 crimes logged in June, for a decrease of 12.73 percent.

Maranan said the eight focus crimes, which police are monitoring to determine the peace and order situation in the city, are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carjacking and motorcycle theft.

The weekly crime rate also dropped by 12 cases, from 29 to 17 from July 29 to Aug. 4, for a decline of 41.37 percent.

Maranan lauded the QCPD personnel for their efforts in maintaining peace and order.

He said the QCPD is commited to maintaining these positive trends in crime reduction through sustained vigilance and effective law enforcement strategies.
