Fugitive religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is just staying inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City amid an arrest warrant against him, the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) said Thursday.

In an ambush interview during the 123rd Police Service Anniversary ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City, PRO 11 chief Police Brigadier Nicolas Torre III said this was based on indicators and informants.

“Yes, that’s what the indicators and informants are telling us na nandoon lang sa loob kaya nga binabantayan siya ng mga tagasunod,” Torre said when asked if Quiboloy was in the KOJC compound.

(Yes, that’s what the indicators and informants are telling us that he was just inside, that’s why his followers were guarding the compound for him.)

“Even on June 10, ang sabi is nandoon lang talaga. Lahat ng indicators nandoon talaga e. Kaya siya in-attempt-an na serve-an ng warrant of arrest last June 10 kasi nga nandoon siya,” he added.

(Even on June 10, they said he was really there. All the indicators show he was really there. That’s why authorities attempted to serve him an arrest warrant last June 10 because he was there.)

The 30-hectare KOJC compound has a 77,000-seater dome which is four times bigger than Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, according to Torre.

He added that the compound has a hangar, four helicopters, and two airplanes.

Torre said the police want to serve the arrest warrant without any casualty as he urged Quiboloy to surrender to authorities.

“Ipakita na lang ni Mr. Quiboloy na talagang siya ay lider ng kanyang mga tao at take the cudgels of his people na hindi naulanan, na hindi nainitan, hindi nababagyuhan doon sa harap ng kanyang Kingdom na para depensahan siya. Mag-surrender siya,” Torre said.

(Mr. Quiboloy should just show that he is really a leader of his people and take up the cudgels for his people so that they don’t have to brave the rains and be exposed to the sun in front of the KOJC compound to defend him. He should surrender.)

On June 10, the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) went to the property to serve the arrest warrant against Quiboloy.

This caused tension between KOJC members, who were waiting outside the compound, and the police officers.

A reward worth P10 million is being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest of Quiboloy.

Arrest warrants were issued against Quiboloy and others for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act and Republic Act No. 9208 or Qualified Human Trafficking.

Quiboloy went into hiding shortly after the Senate issued an arrest order against him for refusing to attend the chamber’s hearings.

He has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.

In 2022, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation also issued “wanted” posters for Quiboloy and two other members of his KOJC, namely Teresita Tolibas Dandan and Helen Panilag.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
