BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A principal died on Wednesday after falling from the roof of a school building in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
Reynaldo Mojares, principal of the Guinpana-an Elementary School, died at the Riverside Medical Center where he was confined following the accident.
Moises Padilla Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor said Mojares was cleaning the roof of the school building when he fell a day before classes reopened on Monday.
Mojares reportedly slipped while climbing a ladder to pull off dried leaves from the roof.
He suffered head injuries, according to Ian Arnold Arnaiz, spokesman for the Department of Education in Negros Occidental.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said they are planning to grant assistance to Mojares’ family.
