At least two resolutions seeking to confer a Senate medal of excellence to Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo was proposed after his gold medal haul in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino and Senator Joel Villanueva filed proposed Senate Resolutions 1106 and 1105, respectively, to laud Yulo for his “outstanding” and “historic” achievement of winning two gold medals in the ongoing sports competition.
“Mr. Yulo has made the country proud for his record-breaking achievements at the 2024 Summer Olympics. His world-class talent, unwavering determination and commitment to excellence, and masterful performance merit the highest recognition from this august chamber,” Villanueva’s resolution read.
Both senators also filed separate resolutions congratulating and commending Yulo for his victory.
Over the weekend, Yulo made history for being the first Filipino who won two gold medals in the Olympics after he dominated the men’s floor exercise and vault finals. — Hana Bordey/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
