MANILA, Philippines — Former veteran politician Luis “Chavit” Singson announced that he would run as senator in the 2025 midterm elections.
Singson made the announcement on Wednesday in a speech that was shared on his Facebook page.
He claimed that his candidacy was endorsed by former president Rodrigo Duterte.
“It’s an honor to be endorsed by [former] president Rodrigo Duterte. I’m so thankful because he didn’t forget,” he said in Filipino.
“I first thought that I should ask my family first… But because of you, this is my first time to confirm publicly that I am running as a senator, with your support,” he added.
