THE Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have launched “Kids for the Future of Philippine Industrialization,” a program that aims to develop technology skills in junior and senior high school students.
The initiative seeks to create a future-ready workforce skilled in animation, game development and software development that is fit for the demands of the Philippine information technology sector.
“This groundbreaking initiative… is a testament to our unwavering belief in the youth of the land. It is a recognition that they are not just leaders of tomorrow, but they are also innovators, creators and builders of today,” outgoing Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said during the program’s launch at the DTI head office in Makati City.

“By fostering early interest in semiconductor, electronics, information technology and business process outsourcing, aerospace, electric vehicles and renewable energy, we lay the groundwork for a future where Filipino talents lead the global stage,” Pascual added.
Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara said the initiative would enable 20 million Filipino learners to adopt technology and innovation.
Pilot implementation of the program would be conducted in National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).
