Converge ICT Solutions, Inc., a leading fiber broadband provider in the Philippines, became the first Filipino company to join the ASEAN Circular Economy Business Alliance (ACEBA), a private sector-led initiative promoting circular economy strategies and practices throughout Southeast Asia.
Converge’s participation in ACEBA underscores its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
“We actively promote a circular economy as we aim to reduce our solid waste to landfill to zero by 2030,” said company vice president and head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Jay-Anne Encarnado who virtually attended the launch of the initiative on July 22, 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
She stressed the company’s dedication to embedding sustainable practices into its operations and actively promotes a circular economy. Their goal is to achieve zero solid waste to landfill by 2030.
Converge has implemented various initiatives to achieve its sustainability goals that include the shift to 100 percent renewable energy for its data centers and launching a #CountdowntoZeroWaste campaign focused on refurbishing old modems and recycling used materials.
The company recently reaffirmed its pledge to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, demonstrating its commitment to human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. Converge plans to continue creating policies and programs that support a circular economy and address resource gaps.
ACEBA, conceptualized by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the ASEAN Corporate Social Responsibility Network, serves as a platform for businesses to catalyze leadership and action for the regional Circular Economy transition in Southeast Asia.
