INSURANCE is often one of those financial products we purchase without fully understanding its true value. For many, the decision to buy insurance is driven by familiarity with an agent or the promise of investment returns.
This was certainly the case for me when, at 28, I bought my first insurance policy. I was single, and the purchase was more out of a sense of obligation to a friend than a calculated financial decision. It wasn’t until I took the Registered Financial Planner (RFP) course and eventually got married that I truly understood the importance of insurance in financial planning.
