Arnoldg, a singer and composer who pours his heart and soul into his music, has turned his personal romantic narrative into an upbeat love track with his latest single, “Nonchalant.”
A multi-talented artist, Arnoldg not only writes and sings but also plays the guitar and keyboard, and is skilled in basic drums and music production.
The majority of Arnoldg’s songs, about 90 percent, are drawn from his own life experiences, with the remaining 10 percent inspired by stories he’s read, watched, or heard from others.
“Real-life situations are always inspiring to write about. They help create an original song because nothing is more unique than our own experiences, thoughts, and perspectives on love and life. It makes the song one of a kind,” he shares.
Arnoldg’s creative process is spontaneous and fluid. “I usually start with a melody in mind, then the lyrics follow, but sometimes it happens the other way around. There are moments I call ‘magical,’ where I record myself in the zone, singing and playing, and end up with a rough demo that includes both the melody and lyrics,” he explains.
Always prepared, he keeps his phone notes and voice memo app ready to capture ideas as they come.
One such magical moment led to the creation of “Nonchalant,” a pop alternative track that playfully explores the classic theme of opposites attracting.
Arnoldg drew from his own experiences, crafting a song inspired by his feelings toward a crush who was difficult to read.
“I started composing the song the night I met my nonchalant crush. When I got home, my mind kept working on the narrative, and I began writing the verse and chorus. I was frustrated by his nonchalant attitude, which made it hard for us to talk, so I channeled that into the song,” he says.
Arnoldg identifies as gender-fluid, describing his approach to relationships as open and not bound by gender identity. “Gender identity isn’t an issue for me. In terms of my sexual identity, I’m currently exploring and would be considered ‘Questioning Identity’ within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. I just want to fall in love first. I lack romantic and sexual experience to define my sexuality precisely,” he explains.
The “Nonchalant” music video will feature a boys’ love (BL) theme, reflecting Arnoldg’s desire to present narratives where homo-relationships are shown as just as relatable as hetero-relationships.
“At the end of the day, we’re all just human beings in love. I want to convey that message through my music video,” he reveals.
Music began as a passion for Arnoldg, evolving into a career and now an advocacy.
“As an artist, my advocacy has always been to believe in love, no matter how tough life gets. The ‘Nonchalant’ music video is the prologue of my whole brand,” he said.
“I’ll be introducing my origin as a personality and my artistry as a storyteller through my music. My message is that love is limitless and immeasurable. I love music, and I will keep pursuing it,” the artist added.
Arnoldg, whose love for music started at a young age, is determined to make his mark in the industry. He dreams of collaborating with local artists like Moira Dela Torre, KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino, and James Reid.
“Nonchalant” is now available on all streaming platforms, including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube. Follow Arnoldg on social media at @heyitsarnoldg.
