THE United States National Response Team concluded its assistance to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in addressing the oil spill incident involving the sunken MTKR Terranova in Limay, Bataan, last month.

The team, composed of experts from the US Coast Guard and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, paid a courtesy call to PCG commandant Adm. Ronnie Gavan on August 16 to express gratitude for their cooperation during their deployment. The US team provided technical and operational support to bolster the PCG’s oil spill response capabilities. Their efforts focused on minimizing environmental damage caused by the incident. Admiral Gavan expressed appreciation for the US government’s assistance, emphasizing that the collaboration strengthens the maritime partnership between the two countries. The successful joint operation highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges.
