Jan Francis Alinsonorin from Visayas was named the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Philippines 2024 Champion during the contest’s grand finals held on Aug. 16 at the SM City North EDSA SkyDome.
The event marked the culmination of a nationwide search that began in July and featured regional champions from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Metro Manila.
The finals showcased a series of performances, including group and solo acts, highlighting the vocal talents of the top four finalists: Danilo Lipaopao of Luzon, Erika Anne Buensuceso of Metro Manila, and Mary Joy Parasan of Mindanao, alongside Alinsonorin.
Judges for the competition included Attorney Don Carlo Ybañez, Rox Santos of ABS-CBN, Tommy Tanchangco of Sony Music, and Elle Quan from KWC Asia Pacific, among others. Their role was crucial in assessing the performances and ensuring a fair competition.
The evening featured performances of popular Filipino songs, including “Raise Your Flag” and “Bebot,” as well as solo renditions by the finalists. The event also saw special performances from Hazel Faith, Pauline Anne, and Maki.
As the champion, Jan Francis Alinsonorin received an all-expense-paid trip to Finland for the KWC Finals, a cash prize from Sante Barley Max, a one-year artist management contract, and other prizes from various sponsors. The runners-up also received awards and special gifts.
Alinsonorin will represent the Philippines at the KWC Finals in Finland from Oct. 7 to 12.
“Through this competition, we aim to change the life of the champion and their family,” said Apple Esplana-Manansala, CEO and President of The New Channel.
The KWC Philippines 2024 not only celebrated individual talent but also highlighted the unifying power of music.
