Nevertheless, their passion inspired them to pursue music, “We’re always creating the sounds we envision in our minds.”

In one line, Chinese Football describes their sound as bright and emotionally charged guitar rock. Moreover, their music expresses the vision and vexation of the youth.

Further discussing the team’s dynamics, they mentioned that members Xu Bo and Wang Bo typically produce the lyrics, tune, and song structure, completed with the remaining members’ insights during their rehearsals.

“We ultimately respect the songwriter’s opinion,” they added.

Chinese Football selected their 2017 hit song, “Electronic Girl,” as the prime representation of their band as they claimed that it was the track that earned them recognition. The piece depicts a self-introspective character struggling to find their identity amid a complex society. As of this date, it has garnered over 3 million streams, with its music video with over four hundred thousand views.

“Continue,” a 2019 title track, is another stand-out song for the band. Explaining how much it resonated with them, they shared, “Despite singing it a couple of times, it still makes me want to cry when performed.”

In December 2022, they released their latest album, “Win&Lose,” a 12-track album that follows the concept of participating in a game.

“Victory and defeat are two sides of the same coin, inseparable,” they explained.

The band also shared a memorable moment while preparing the album at the studio, “Several guitar or synth parts in ‘Goodbye’ were improvised in the studio, and I enjoyed the freshness.”

One of the tracks from the album that gained attention was “April Story,” with the classic Chinese Football guitars and serene-sounding vocals expressing the humble existence of an individual in the overall perspective of the world. Likewise, “Summer Limited Girlfriend” is a bright summer track recounting a tantalizing summer day, longing for the presence of their partner.

Additionally, the artists mentioned that they create music for themselves and individuals who resemble them.

“We hope they feel hopeful and stay brave,” expressing what they wish their audience to acquire from listening to their music.

Earlier this year, the band successfully held their National Tour across forty cities, concluding in Urumqi and their hometown, Wuhan. Immediately after, they visited Southeast Asian countries, including Manila, and will embark on their first-ever North American tour.

On their long-awaited performance in Manila, the band delivered beyond their usual set list, “We’ll perform familiar tracks as well as unreleased new songs.”

Entering the global scene, Chinese Football shared what it’s like to perform in front of an international audience, “It feels great to be alive.”

Right after their North American Tour, listeners can also expect fresh music from Chinese Football.
