“We now observe a spike in prom-related hashtags,” she explained.

“Hashtags such as StatementBows, Ruffles, 90sMinimalist, and Y2Kdetails have taken reign. This also indicates that occasion wear patterns have continued to be normalized since its 2022 boom.”

To guide the beloved brides-to-be, Bagano-Dizon highlighted key ideas from WGSN, a global authority on change powered by over 250 data scientists. It curates an immense online library of insights in fashion, retail, and the entire lifestyle industry.

Ruffles play a significant role in the ultrafeminine. Ideal for contemporary brides, it radiates a seamless marriage of the elegant and the ethereal. Infused with a touch of history, a beautiful balance between minimalism and femininity exemplifies the modern romantic. Corsetry remains a prominent feature while voluminous sleeves and hip fullness enhance the vintage.

“Romantic collections with a boudoir undertone continue to emerge as fashion unfolds. Using sheer fabrics adds a fresh twist to familiar themes,” the designer said.

Silk, on the other hand, elevates evening wear. Chic jumpsuits and 90s dresses bring forth a refined look as the minimalist yet lavish material matches a variety of themes.

“Luxe lounge focuses on clean lines and modern silhouettes, steering clear of elaborate embellishments. This demonstrates that simplicity truly is the ultimate sophistication.”

A perfect pair for these modest designs are intricately crafted veils with detailed headpieces, from tiers and patchworks, to 3D floral embroideries.

For those who wish to embrace tradition with a dash of rebellion, she suggests ensembles with statement bows adorned with luxurious crystals or pearls. Corsage motifs also create a maximalist approach to the quintessential blooms.

Bagano-Dizon, an educator and academic adviser under the Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) Program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), encouraged transitional pieces for those who aim to maximize their budget.

“Detachable overskirts, sleeves, shrugs, capes, and boleros effortlessly elevate an outfit. This allows for transforming a gown into a mini dress or a simpler silhouette into a more dramatic ensemble, all with the addition of a train.”

Modish suits, jumpsuits, and trousers also offer alternatives to conventional frocks. These classy options are suitable even after the event.

The drop waist style, on the other hand, provides a novel direction on diverse clothing types. Knots and full-skirted wovens go for both occasion wear and mainstream wear.

Peach Fuzz can be seen in bridesmaids. While the Color of the Year is not a top pick for the wedding gown, Bagano-Dizon confirms that blush is a well-loved substitute for the timeless white. Thanks to the blockbuster movie “Barbie” (2023), pink dominates the 2024 runways with shades of dusty mauve, light pink, fiery fuchsia, and striking magenta.

“At the end of the day, select what works best for you and your body type. Choose what will make you feel confident and comfortable so you can be the best version of yourself on your big day,” Bagano-Dizon finally said.
