3 Luzon dams continue to release water

MANILA, Philippines — At least three dams in Luzon continue to release water to prevent the reservoirs from reaching spilling levels, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hydro-meteorology department said in its latest report.

As of 8 a.m. yesterday, one gate of Ipo Dam in Bulacan remained open at 0.15 meters. Ipo Dam reached 100.49 meters or 0.61 meters below its normal high water level of 101.10 meters.

In Benguet, Ambuklao Dam’s two gates remained open after the reservoir reached 751.69 meters compared to its normal high water level of 752 meters. One gate of Binga Dam also released water after reaching 574.67 meters compared to its normal high water level of 575 meters.

PAGASA said the water level of Angat Dam continued to improve after it reached 194.32 meters or 0.31 meters higher compared to its previous level of 194 meters, although this is still 15.68 meters below the normal high water level of 210 meters.

Water at La Mesa Dam in Quezon City dropped by 0.23 meters after it reached 89.41 meters, beyond its spilling level of 80.15 meters, amid the rains brought by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm Enteng.

The San Roque Dam in Pangasinan also improved by 1.52 meters after reaching 249.82 meters while the Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija increased by 0.45 meters or at 193.87 meters, compared to its previous level of 193.42 meters.

Magat Dam in Isabela was up by 0.58 meters after it reached 185.05 meters compared to its previous level of 184.47 meters.

Meanwhile, Caliraya Dam in Laguna dropped by 0.04 meters after it reached 286.81 meters compared to its previous level of 286.85 meters.
