Dismissed Bamban town mayor Alice Guo left the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial center in Camp Crame on Friday morning and will be brought to a court in Capas, Tarlac.
In an ambush interview, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that the police organization’s Headquarters Support Service (HSS) escorted Guo’s exit from the facility around 9:40 a.m.
“As a matter of procedure po ay dadalhin po siya physically kay judge para ipakita po siya na siya po ay naaresto (she will be physically brought to the judge to show that she has been arrested),” Fajardo told reporters.
Capas, Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 recently issued an arrest warrant for Guo.
According to Fajardo, the PNP will wait for the decision of the court if Guo will be transferred to another detention facility.
“Maghihintay po tayo ng desisyon ng korte kung maglalabas po ba ito ng commitment order para po siya ay i-commit sa ibang detention facility or otherwise po ay ibabalik po siya rito,” she said.
(We will wait for the court’s decision on whether it will issue a commitment order to bring Guo to another detention facility or otherwise she will be returned here.)
Aside from the possible commitment order, Fajardo said the PNP will also wait if Guo will post bail for her release.
“Yung mga kaso naman po niya ay bailable naman po so may karapatan po sila. Kagabi po ay pinayagan naman po siya na makausap ‘yung kaniyang lawyer na isa. At ngayon nga kung napansin ninyo marami pong lawyers niya ang dumating ngayon,” Fajardo said.
(Her cases are bailable, so they have the right to post bail. Last night, she was allowed to talk to her lawyer And now, if you noticed, many of her lawyers came today.)
If Guo posts bail, Fajardo said the dismissed mayor will be released from the custody of the PNP. However, Fajardo noted that another arrest order from the Senate will be served to Guo if ever.
“Kung mag-bail po siya, definitely, ire-release po siya ng PNP. Ibig sabihin, wala na po siya sa kustodiya ng PNP (If she posts bail, definitely, the PNP will release her. That means she is no longer in the custody of the PNP),” Fajardo said.
“At ang understanding ko po, kung sakaling magbi-bail po siya ay ise-serve po ‘yung arrest order po ng Senate so the Senate would take custody of her (In my understanding, if she posts bail, the arrest order will be served by the Senate so the Senate would take custody of her),” she added.
