Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr. on Sunday revealed that fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been arrested.

Without disclosing further details, Abalos reported the development in a brief Facebook post.

Nahuli na po si Apollo Quiboloy (Quiboloy has been caught),” the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief posted.

Abalos also posted a photo of Quiboloy with his legal counsel Israelito Carreon bearing the same caption.

The DILG said Quiboloy is en route to Metro Manila. He will be brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Details of the arrest remain sketchy as of this posting with PNP Davao regional director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III telling reporters he has “no idea” how Quiboloy was arrested.

“I have no idea of the full story. I think you have to ask the Secretary (Abalos) on how Mr. Quiboloy was arrested,” Torre said in a video posted by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Facebook.

Torre confirmed a C-130 aircraft landed in Davao City to facilitate the transfer of the fugitive Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader to Metro Manila.

He deferred to Abalos in answering all questions related to this development. “I don’t like to take any credit… This is a concerted effort of everyone involved,” the PNP-Davao chief told reporters.

PNP-Davao held a 16-day manhunt operation versus Quiboloy at the KOJC compound since August 24, 2024.

This is a developing story.
