MANILA, Philippines — Asenso Manileño, the dominant political party in the city of Manila, will unveil on Friday, Sept 27, at the San Andres Sports Complex its official slate for the May 2025 local elections.
Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, who already declared her intention to seek reelection, will announce her party’s candidate for representative of the city’s 1st district in the House of Representatives.
Lacuna-Pangan and her running mate, incumbent Vice Mayor Yul Servo, will also unveil Asenso Manileño’s slate for the city council.
Currently, 20 councilors are with the Asenso Manileño bloc.
On the other hand, of the six Manila congressmen, five are allied with Asenso Manileño.
These are 2nd District Rep. Rolando Valeriano who heads the House Committee on Metro Manila Development, 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua who heads the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, 4th District Rep. Edward Maceda who heads the Committee on Revision of Laws, 5th District Rep. Irwin Tieng who heads the Committee on Banks and Financial Intermediaries and 6th District Rep. Benny Abante who heads the Committee on Human Rights.
All of the five Asenso Manileño congressmen will run for re-election.
