CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Brig. Gen. Cerilo Balaoro Jr. has assumed his post as the Philippine Army (PA) 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division chief.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, PA commanding general, presided over the change of command ceremony at Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.

Balaoro, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” class of 1991, took the reins from Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong who retired on Sept. 13.

Balaoro has been instrumental in maintaining operational momentum in the division’s area of responsibility in the Calabarzon region.

In his statement, Balaoro expressed his commitment to upholding the division’s legacy of ensuring peace, security and progress in Southern Tagalog.
