Barangay Ginebra took down Phoenix, 112-96, to book a slot in the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
RJ Abarrientos led Ginebra with 24 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a steal, Japeth Aguilar and Scottie Thompson chipped in 21 and 20 points apiece as the squad bounced back from a loss against San Miguel. Justin Brownlee had 13 points as Ginebra improved to 6-3 in Group B.
Jason Perkins and Sean Manganti had 18 points apiece as Phoenix slipped to 1-8.
Both Ginebra and Phoenix will go against NLEX in their closing games in the elimination round, with the Fuel Masters playing the Road Warriors first on September 20, while Ginebra will deal with them on September 22.
