COTABATO CITY, Philippines — The health ministry of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has committed to shoulder the treatment of indigent dengue patients confined in state-run hospitals under BARMM’s jurisdiction.

Bangsamoro Health Minister Kadil Monera Sinolinding Jr. told journalists yesterday that BARMM’s medical assistance to indigent and financially incapacitated patients has funds earmarked for dengue patients.

“This program is a tie-up initiative of the Ministry of Health (MoH), its provincial offices and government hospitals located in the autonomous region,” Sinolinding said.

He said the program is supported by Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim.

Data from the Bangsamoro health ministry showed 122 dengue cases have been reported in different provinces and three component cities in the region in recent weeks.

The MoH has launched an awareness campaign against the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
