A lifeless body was retrieved in Sitio Bakawan, Barangay Mataas na Bayan in Lemery, Batangas on Tuesday following a missing person’s report for a suspected drowning victim.
According to a statement by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday, the victim was found by the barangay officials along the shoreline.
With the assistance of the Coast Guard Substation Balayan, the victim’s family was able to view and positively identify the body as the missing victim from Balayan, Batangas.
The victim has now been turned over to the family for proper disposition.
“CGSS Balayan personnel further discussed with barangay officials in implementing proactive measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future,” the Coast Guard said. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
