MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited Mati City in Davao Oriental on Friday to assist thousands of indigents who have been impacted by economic challenges.

The senator made a quick trip to Mati’s Barangay Sainz after joining the ocular inspection by the Senate subcommittee on justice and human rights on the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.

“The job of a senator is not limited to crafting laws… From Monday to Sunday, I work to assist our countrymen, especially here in Davao, in whatever way I can,” Go said as he emphasized the critical role of government in helping Filipinos recover and thrive.

“As long as it is for the benefit of our poor fellowmen, I would continue to support the government’s pro-poor programs. This is part of our efforts to ensure that no Filipino is hungry and left behind,” he added.

Earlier, Go expressed hope that the administration will give priority to policies and programs that directly “benefit and uplift the lives of the poor, helpless and hopeless“ who need government attention the most.

The beneficiaries received grocery packs, vitamins, shirts, masks and snacks while others were given basketballs, volleyballs, bicycles, mobile phones, watches and shoes.

Go, who chairs the Senate committee on health and demography, also encouraged the public to use the services of the Malasakit Centers in the country when in need of medical care.

“We should not add to the burden of our brothers who are seeking help for their health concerns. It is the people’s money that we are giving back to them through the Malasakit Center,” he said.

To date, 166 Malasakit Centers have been established nationwide.
