Detained former Mayor Alice Guo was ordered to attend the scheduled public hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on Monday, September 9, to answer various allegations leveled against her.
Presiding judge Sarah Vedaña-Delos Santos of regional trial court Branch 109 in Capas, Tarlac signed the order in response to the request of committee chairperson Senator Risa Hontiveros.
“Given the critical importance of the ongoing inquiry in aid of legislation, the court grants the senator’s request,” the order read.
“Wherefore, the accused Alice Guo alias ‘Guo Hua Ping’ is allowed to attend the scheduled public hearing mentioned above provided that strict security protocol be observed,” it added.
Guo is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City following her high-profile arrest in Indonesia earlier this week.
The Hontiveros panel is scheduled to resume its ongoing probe into Guo’s connection with the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) at 10:00 AM on Monday.
Guo has been cited in contempt by the senators over her refusal to cooperate with the ongoing Senate cooperation. She was subsequently ordered arrested.
The Capas court also issued a separate warrant of arrest stemming from the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices complaint filed against Guo by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
