Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo finally broke his silence over the family issues surrounding his victory at the recent Paris Olympics 2024.
In an exclusive interview, TV host Toni Gonzaga asked Yulo about the situation. The Olympian revealed why he chose to remain silent last month, describing the matters as too “personal” for everyone to know.
Gusto mo ipaglaban ‘yung sarili mo and ‘yung relationship niyo,” he added.
The national athlete also shared that he had already moved on. He emphasized that instead of giving attention to the issues, he wanted to focus on himself, his relationship with Chloe San Jose, and the people who truly support and love him.
On the other hand, Chloe shared that she could relate to what the gymnast had experienced.
“S’yempre, nasasaktan po ako kasi it happened to me na. So, I know how it feels like na your own blood is like putting you down, na hindi naniniwala sa’yo,” said Chloe.
She emphasized that while it’s okay to put family first, they should also be the first people to support, love, and protect you.
“Yes, family first. Pero family should be the first ones also na sinusuportahan ka, pinoprotektahan ka. So, why is it the opposite?” explained Chloe.
“Sila ‘yung unang nag-do-down sa’yo. So, why is that? Para sa’kin po, it doesn’t make sense or parang hindi po nagtutugma ‘yung ‘family first dapat’. So, family first should be the first ones to love you and support you unconditionally,” she added.
