LOW-COST carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) has received its 12th new aircraft for 2024, an A321neo, as part of an ongoing network expansion and fleet modernization program.
The new 236-seater aircraft touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Thursday, the budget carrier said in a statement.
“This latest aircraft delivery aligns with our goal of enhancing our fleet and expanding our network to better serve every Juan,” CEB President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao said.
“With each fuel-efficient aircraft [that] we welcome to our fleet, we are taking steps toward achieving our net zero goal by 2050, while continuing to open more routes and introduce new destinations for our passengers,” he added.
Two weeks ago, CEB took delivery of another fuel-efficient A320neo to its fleet, reaffirming its commitment to accessible and sustainable air travel.
Airbus Neos (neo being an acronym for “new engine option”) are said to be the latest-generation aircraft that burn 15 percent less fuel per flight and produce less noise compared to the previous generation.
The reduction in fuel consumption leads to a corresponding reduction in aircraft carbon emissions.
Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets in the world with a diversified mix of nine Airbus 330s, 40 Airbus 320s, 23 Airbus 321s and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft.
Shares of CEB operator Cebu Air Inc. soared by P1.05, or 3.06 percent, to P35.35 each on Friday.
