Following her win during the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night last May 22, beauty queen Chelsea Manalo has been widely associated with the song “La Bulaqueña” by pop rock band Orange & Lemons. With this, the band has recently featured the Bulakenya beauty queen in the official music video for the song.
Being the first music video ever shot inside the National Museum of Fine Arts, the video was inspired by renowned painter Juan Luna’s piece “Una Bulaqueña.” Prominently featuring the painting, the video shows the members of the band going around the museum as they are enamored by the gorgeous woman in the artwork, which is likened to Manalo’s captivating beauty.
The video also has Manalo wearing an intricately designed baro’t saya by fashion designer Manny Halasan as she sings along with the band and walks through the halls of the empty museum.
“A dream project come true! A mix of music, arts, culture, architecture, and pageantry,” said the band’s frontman Clem Castro in a post on Facebook.
Orange & Lemons, who also hail from Bulacan, consists of vocalist and guitarist Castro, drummer Ace Del Mundo, bassist JM del Mundo, and pianist/keyboardist Jared Nerona. The band first released “La Bulaqueña” in 2022, which is part of the album of the same name.
